Robotics Software Engineer (m/f/d) AI Tools & Integration

About the role

<p><strong>The AI Teams at Agile Robots</strong> are looking for a <strong>Robotics Software Engineer (m/f/d) AI Tools &amp; Integration</strong>, who will integrate AI models with robot hardware and build the applications and tooling around them. Customers and partners reuse this stack through open-source releases, so it has to keep working with messy data, limited compute, and real hardware.</p> <h3><strong>Responsibilities</strong></h3> <ul> <li><strong>Robot Integration:</strong> Integrate trained AI models with single-arm and dual-arm robots through ROS 2, and maintain the runtime that runs them on hardware.</li> <li><strong>Application Development:</strong> Build robot applications on top of the AI stack, including agentic workflows that chain AI models and robot skills into multi-step tasks.</li> <li><strong>Tool Interfaces:</strong> Build UI, API, and CLI tools such as dataset viewers, training dashboards, and benchmark viewers.</li> <li><strong>End-to-End Testing:</strong> Build test suites that run real user workflows from data through training to inference, including stress tests with messy data and limited compute.</li> <li><strong>Release Readiness:</strong> Maintain nightly regression runs on the reference workflows and run reliability checks before demos and open-source releases.</li> <li><strong>Documentation:</strong> Write and maintain the documentation customers and partners use to adopt the tooling.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Essential Skills</strong></h3> <ul> <li><strong>Engineering Background:</strong> Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field, or equivalent qualification plus professional experience building comparable software systems.</li> <li><strong>Python Engineering:</strong> Professional experience building and maintaining Python software that other engineers depend on.</li> <li><strong>ROS 2 Integration:</strong> Hands-on experience integrating and debugging software on physical robots through ROS 2.</li> <li><strong>Containers &amp; CI:</strong> Hands-on experience with Docker and CI pipelines such as GitHub Actions for reproducible builds and releases.</li> <li><strong>Testing:</strong> Hands-on experience designing integration and end-to-end test suites and debugging failures across the full stack.</li> <li><strong>Backend Services:</strong> Experience building backend services and APIs, for example with FastAPI or gRPC.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Beneficial Skills</strong></h3> <ul> <li><strong>C++ Development:</strong> Experience writing C++ for robot-side or performance-critical code.</li> <li><strong>Agentic Systems:</strong> Experience building applications that combine language or vision-language models with robot skill execution.</li> <li><strong>Frontend Development:</strong> Working experience with React or Next.js for building data-heavy interfaces.</li> <li><strong>ML Workflows:</strong> Working understanding of how training and inference pipelines for robot learning models fit together.</li> </ul><div class="content-conclusion"><h3 class="TranslationField-module__fieldItemName___Q0F_7 TranslationField-module__aboutUsWrapper___WXJpq"><strong>What we offer</strong></h3> <ul> <li> <div>A dynamic high-tech company, combined with financial soundness and world-class investors.</div> </li> <li> <div>Join an interdisciplinary, international team with 60+ different nationalities in a collaborative work environment.</div> </li> <li> <div>Lots of development opportunities as we continue to grow.</div> </li> <li> <div>Challenging tasks and impactful projects alongside experts that enable professional and personal growth.</div> </li> <li> <div>Corporate Benefits Program covering health, mobility, and learning for 100€ net per month.</div> </li> <li> <div>Modern office facilities with a rooftop terrace overlooking Munich, free drinks &amp; fruits, and regular company events contribute to a good working environment</div> </li> </ul> <h3><strong>About us</strong></h3> <div class="Translati
